penspenspens [Jan. 8th, 2010|02:58 am]
[Current Mood | awake]
[Current Music |Cher-It's in His Kiss]

A couple months ago I ordered a bunch of stuff from Jetpens.com that never arrived. The tracking info said it was delivered though. I called the post office and asked a few neighbors if they had accidentally gotten it. Neighbors didn't have it and the post office didn't either. They said it was marked as delivered so theft was most likely. I also contacted Jetpens but unfortunately they couldn't help with finding it either. Since they couldn't help out with tracking down my order they've given me store credit. I'm happy about that part, but since there's a good chance the package was stolen I'm still ticked at whoever took it. Anyway, I've reordered stuff and added a Rhodia sketchpad to that order. I've heard the paper is really good quality.

3 Boys Arrested in 'Ginger Day' Attacks

CALABASAS, Calif. (Nov. 30) -- Three boys were booked on suspicion of bullying or kicking red-haired students at a middle school when a "Kick a Ginger Day" prank inspired by a "South Park" episode got out of hand, authorities said Monday.
A 13-year-old boy was detained last week for investigation of threatening to inflict injury by means of electronic communication — essentially, cyberbullying. Two 12-year-olds were booked for battery on school property, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

Chinese "Godmother" [Nov. 3rd, 2009|10:58 pm]

I know it's wrong but I still this woman sounds pretty awesome :D

Dubbed the "godmother" of the Chinese underworld, she was notorious for her toughness and a lavish lifestyle that reportedly included luxury villas and a stable of 16 young lovers.

Her criminal reign ended Tuesday when Xie Caiping, 46, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for running illegal casinos and bribing government officials. Her trial was one of a series of gang prosecutions in the southwestern city of Chongqing that have featured lurid testimony about sex, corruption and the violent underworld.

What was your favorite fairy tale as a child?

The Goose Maiden is one of my favorites. I used to watch Reading Rainbow when I was little and that's how I first found out about it. I think maybe it appealed to me because it was darker than most fairy tales I knew of at the time. They told is as it originally went, leaving in the stuff about the horse being decapitated and the girl talking to it's severed head.

The story if any cares to read it

Saudi women to spurn lingerie shops over salesmen [Mar. 25th, 2009|09:46 pm]
[Tags|, , , ]
[Current Mood | thoughtful]

I thought this an interesting article. I'm just surprised that even something so simple as buying underwear could be such an ordeal in other countries.

t's an irony of the kingdom's strict segregation of the sexes. Only men are employed as sales staff to keep women from having to deal with male customers or work around men.

But in lingerie stores, that means men are talking to women about bras or thongs, looking them up and down to determine their cup sizes, even rubbing the underwear to show how stains can be washed out.

The result is mortifying for everyone involved — shoppers, salesmen, even the male relatives who accompany the women.

"When I buy underwear in Saudi, some salesmen say, 'This is not the right size for you,'" said Batterjee. "You feel almost taken advantage of. Why is he looking at me in this way?"

Muslim TV exec accused of beheading wife in NY [Feb. 17th, 2009|08:06 pm]
Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan is accused of beheading his wife last week, days after she filed for divorce. Authorities have not discussed the role religion or culture might have played, but the slaying gave rise to speculation that it was the sort of "honor killing" more common in countries half a world away, including the couple's native Pakistan.

Since I haven't drawn anything but junk and don't post much, I shall now post an excerpt from my nanowrimo writing. I started two weeks late and don't really have a plot in mind. I'm only up to about 2,200 word so far. I'm definitely not going to reach 50k but I feel like if I participate I'll at least be able to say I accomplished something. If anybody wants to critique or whatever that's cool.

KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR PAYPAL [Aug. 31st, 2008|02:28 pm]

[Current Mood | anxious]

To those of you that use paypal, keep an eye on you account. I recently had an unauthorized charge from mobilegamesetcom for $9.96. There were also charges for $3.96 from Wayne P Merton's lumber and Six Degrees Constucti. I also had unauthorized charges on my credit card from Reservation Rewards for some club that costs $12 a month that I never signed up for. I found out that Reservation Rewards gets your info when you use one of their partner sites. You'll get an offer to sign up to save $10 off your next purchase. When you sign up they take your credit card info from the whatever site you just purchased stuff from.
